Myth or a valid Ingress method?
This data relates directly to a reddit post where I suggested that one deploys, then hacks a portal. It was suggested that getting better “stuff” is a myth so I set out to check my assumptions.
See: I know I sound stupid, but how do I jack a portal?? (noob)
Method
To try to get as consistent a result as possible I chose grey portals and I did 3 things:
- Hack
- Glyph Hack with “more”
- Deploy (1×7, 2×6, 2×5, 3×4) resonators and Glyph Hack – deliberately only getting 2 glyphs right.
Bonus items are shown in italics
It’s worth noting that a Glyph Hack on a grey portal only ever gives one word, on the deployed portal it gives three.
Conclusion
75% of the time a Glyph Hack will generate a better yield. In every instance deploying resulted in much, much better “stuff”.
